YOUNG MATTHEWS Josephine Estelle Warner Young Feb. 10, 1920 - Dec. 7, 2014 Josephine Estelle Warner Young passed away on December 7, 2014 in Matthews, NC at the Carrington Place Nursing Home. Josephine (Jo or "Jo-Jo" as she was affectionately called) was born in Lewisville-Clemmons, NC on February 10, 1920 to Clifton and Lula Hauser Warner. She married Ree's Allison Young on November 27, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1989, as did her mother, father and two brothers, Vernon Warner and James Warner. Her sister, Pansy Tuttle also preceded her in death. Jo is survived by her sister, Dorothy Pegram of Lewisville and a sister-in-law, Betty Lou Warner of Clemmons. Jo is survived by four children, Lynn Young Blackburn (Larry) who lives in Southern Shores NC; Roy A. Young (Carol) who lives in Matthews, NC; Timothy J. Young (Karen) who lives in Anderson, SC and Kimberly Young Lewey (Mike) who lives in Raleigh, NC. She also was blessed with seven grandchildren & three great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren include Jeffrey Blackburn (Jamie) who live in Denver, Colorado, Ben Young (Sherry) who live in San Francisco, Sam Young (Jessica) who live in Winston-Salem, NC, Jordan Lewey, who lives in Raleigh, NC, Christianna Gunnels, Zach Gunnels (Elizabeth), and Mollie Todd who live in Anderson, SC. Her great-grandchildren include Brighton Irene Blackburn (Jeff/Jamie), Oliver Macagiah Young (Sam/Jessica), and Adaleigh Todd (Mollie). Jo was a faithful member of Trinity Christian Church in Pfafftown, NC. She thoroughly enjoyed her job at the Wake Forest University's Bookstore for 20 years (retired in 1986). For the students that attended school during her tenure, she managed the quad's Sundry Shop with one eye on her students and the other on her "soaps". She also had a flair for fashion and moonlighted at the former Thalhimers for many years. On December 28th, a memorial gathering of family and friends to celebrate Jo's life will be at Vogler & Sons Funeral Home at 2951 Reynolda Road in Winston-Salem, NC from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. and a graveside service will be held at Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Rural Hall, NC at 2:00 p.m.
