Obituary for Donna Deanne Mitchell Maranville

Donna Deanne Mitchell Maranville, age 77, passed peacefully to her heavenly home on Sunday March 11, 2018, at Catawba Valley Hospice House at Sherrills Ford. Donna was born in Walnut Cove, NC on September 11, 1940 to the late David W. and Ruby Young Mitchell. Donna was predeceased in 1997 by the love of her life and beloved husband of 39 years, Jackie A. Maranville.
She leaves loving memories to be cherished by her daughter, Lynn Maranville Martin, and husband Glenn, of Mooresville, son David Hampton Maranville, and wife Melanie, of Walnut Cove, grandsons Logan Noah Martin, of Mooresville, Adam Daniel Martin, and fiancé Sierra Brotherton of Newton, her sisters, Linda Mitchell Hall Hicks, and husband Leonard of Madison, Judy Mitchell Oakley, of Walnut Cove and sister-in-law Joanne H. Croft and husband Frank of Chapin, SC, along with several nieces, great nieces and nephews.
Donna graduated from Walnut Cove High School. She was employed by Hanes Hosiery, and Sara Lee, but made her career as an Executive Secretary for Stokes County Public Schools, retiring 1997 with 29 years of service. Upon her retirement, she was quoted as saying 'I wiped a lot of noses, tears, accepted an abundance of hugs over the years and cherished each young life I had the honor to touch'.
Donna was a devoted and affectionate 'Nana' to her grandsons, Adam & Logan to retire early because she wanted to move to Mooresville, NC in 1998 to spend more time with them and watch them grow into the amazing young men they are today. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life.
Donna a life-long Christian was a member of Fulp Moravian Church, a member of Rosebud Christian Church as a child and young adult, and faithfully attended Fieldstone Presbyterian Church while living in Mooresville. She cherished and looked forward to weekly visits by Reverend Inger Manchester of Fieldstone Presbyterian.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 16, 2018 at Fulp Moravian Church in Walnut Cove, NC. There will be a family visitation at 1pm, and the service will take place at 2pm. Burial will be in Fulp Moravian Church’s 'God’s Acre' Graveyard. Officiating will be Reverend Chuck Harmon, Reverend Dan Nelson, Reverend Inger Manchester and Donald Gray Brown.
A celebration of Donna’s life will be held at Fieldstone Presbyterian Church on Sunday, March 18th at 5:30pm.
Donna’s family wishes to thank her loving and caring home health workers, Denise, Brooke, Courtney, Ember, Demi, Lisa, Brenda, along with the staff of Catawba Valley Hospice and Sherrills Ford Hospice House for their compassionate care of their mother.
