William is listed on the 1790 Stokes County NC census page 180 with a wife and 1 son under 16, and 4 females on the 1800 census Pg. 589 with 3 M<10 and himself over 45, 2 F<10,1 F 10-16, 1 F 16-26 and wife 26-45. In 1810 he is listed on page 95 on a manufacturing schedule with 1 person weaving or 1 loom? making 100 yd. material at a value of $50. In 1820 he is listed with 1M<10 and himself over 45, 2 F 16-26 and wife over 45. William is listed as a taxpayer in 1782 listed in NC Taxpayers 1679-1790 as being in Surry County. His father is also listed. William had a will written 1 January 1841 and proved at June term 1844 mentioning wife Mary, son Benjamin, and daughters Rebecca who married John Mabe, Libba who married a Hooker, and Mary. Sally Young was witness. Grant #1113 William Young 18 May 1789 , near Benjamin Young's line. Benjamin Young Sr. sold to William 100 acres both sides of Townfork, witness Christopher Young. In 1790 census has one son, Benjamin, and three daughters, one named Catherine, the other two are not named - probably died early. William served in the American Revolution. His will dated Jan.1, 1844 named his wife and children. He died June 1, 1844 at his residence in Stokes Co., NC. DB10, p. 89, Feb. 1831, Willliam Young to John Mabe for $600. 300 acres in two tracts on Snow Creek, waters of Dan River containing the house and plantation where William now lives. Witnesses: Mary Young, Thomas Young and John Coffee.
