Note on Husband: Robert Walter YOUNG
Robert Young was a Patrolman for the Winston-Salem Police Department and Volunteer Fireman in the mid 1910's. In 1918, while awaiting induction into the Great War he resigned from the Police Force and was working as a Shoe Salesman. In November of 1918 before being off to war he was killed while trying to help repel a lynch mob at the former Winston Town Hall. Details of the 1918 Riot can be found here:
